Yes, you should be doing strength training

We start to lose muscle mass from our early 30s, at a rate of 1-2% per year until our 60s when the rate increases dramatically. At the same time we lose elasticity in muscles, tendons and ligaments, our bones are also losing mass and density, our circulatory and respiratory systems lose efficiency, our central nervous system also becomes less efficient so we lose balance more easily and have trouble with our short term memory. So yes, strength training is vital as it combats all of these issues and keeps our systems strong and efficient ensuring independence, mobility and wellbeing into our older age. It's never too early or too late to start. Even before Christmas!
