My Story
I came to the fitness industry late in life, although I have always enjoyed sport in some form or other. I am in my mid 50s, a mother of three and grandmother of one. My middle daughter has severe learning disabilities and part of my motivation around my fitness is to keep myself strong enough to look after her for as long as possible. But I also enjoy how working out makes me feel, how it means I can eat more of what I like and (confession time) enjoy my glass of wine in the evening!
I was also a bit fed up with having an achy shoulder, a dodgy knee, sore ankles, achy hip – I had as many painful joints as everyone else, it becomes the main topic of conversation if we’re not careful! But with the help of my own PT I have worked hard on my strength training and can safely say that at 54 years old I feel better than I ever have. And I’d love to pass on that feeling, it’s achievable, it takes support and determination but it’s within everyone reach. Let’s work out your programme together.
I am mindful that the terms I am using on my website and social media - mobility, strength, flexibility and fitness - may sound like I am assuming that everyone is ambulatory. This is not the case. I believe that anyone and everyone is entitled to use services to help their mental and physical wellbeing and that includes anyone with a physical or learning disability. I am not a physio or a doctor, but I am passionate about sharing my fitness knowledge with anyone who is interested, regardless of current ability or disability.
